Dr. Katherine ‘Kat’ Scafide is an Associate Professor at George Mason University in the School of Nursing, College of Public Health. Her research focuses on using innovative technologies to address disparities in injury assessment among diverse victims of violence. In addition to general oversight, Dr. Scafide ensures clinical relevance, alignment with existing standards, and data collection across various laboratory and clinical institutions.
Janusz Wojtusiak, PhD
Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. Janusz Wojtusiak is Professor and Director of the Health Informatics Program at George Mason University. He also directs the Machine Learning and Inference Laboratory. Dr. Wojtusiak’s research spans a wide area of artificial intelligence methods applied in medical, healthcare, and health applications. Dr. Wojtusiak leads the development of the injury platform and all software activities on the project.
David Lattanzi, PhD, PE, FSEI
Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. David Lattanzi is an Associate Professor and the John Toups Faculty Fellow at George Mason University. Dr. Lattanzi’s research focuses on creating novel diagnostic technologies that leverage computer vision and artificial intelligence. He is leading the development of the relevant computer vision systems, as well as spearheading the user-centered design aspects of the project.
